Sweet November

We hosted Thanksgiving at our house in November. What we love about hosting is that we get to make our home a fun and comfortable place for everyone to be. No one has to do any work. They arrive and dinner is ready to eat. We eat early at noon so we can enjoy the rest of the day having fun together. I cook all the the things that need to stay warm so that they don't have re-heat their food when they arrive. They brings desserts and sides that can be cold or room temperature.

We always have so much fun and my family ends up staying until it's dark because it's so enjoyable. We put on a fun Thanksgiving movie and the kids go outside and play sports in the backyard. The little ones play in the basement with all the toys. We all have our space and can relax. Then we have pie. No one has to help clean up (but they always offer anyways).

November was the month that I pulled Tatem out of preschool. He was struggling to enjoy it and I didn't want him to think he was a "bad kid" and learn to hate school. I think he clashed with some of the kids and his teacher. It was too small of a room to have preschool in and I think the small environment made the kids act out because there wasn't enough room to breath or move around. They were in each other's space and the environment was too structured. I think kids do better when there is room for flexibility.

Now, I have to spend with him, so I'm going to take advantage of that!
